Is it possible to earn while Learning ?

According to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), International students cannot work for more than 16 hours in a week during term time. Any job which is more 16 hours in a week requires a special permit. Most institutions have their own rules and guidelines regarding part-time job, it is important to check them before applying. What Is Scope of Work Residence and Citizenship ?

An International student who wants to work in Singapore must obtain a work pass. To apply for a work pass, he/she must secure a job in order to apply for the work pass. There are several passes for different types of jobs.

Employment Pass (P & Q Pass) – This type of pass is for those who will earn a minimum of S$ 2,500 a month; typically the managers, executives, specialists and foreign professionals. A dependency pass can be given to dependents of the EP Pass holder. Dependents are defined as a spouse or unmarried children under 21. These dependents can then apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC) which would permit them to be employed in Singapore.

S Pass – This type of pass is for those who are earning at least S$ 1,800 a month. It requires the applicant’s qualifications, skills, experience and job type to apply for this pass.

R Pass/ Work Permit – Applicants who do not qualify for the S or EP Pass may apply for an R Pass or Work Permit. Depending on the industry one is working in, the pass is awarded with varying levels of difficulty.

Permanent Residency:
